Staying near the Gorges de l’Ardèche: watch the real journey
“Close to the gorges” does not designate a single distance. The center of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, a canoe departure point, the Pont d'Arc beach and a viewpoint on the tourist route are different points. Compare the address of your accommodation with that of the reserved exit.
From Mas d'Eylieux, in Saint-Montan, it takes approximately 35–40 minutes to Vallon-Pont-d'Arc. It is a road marker, with no guarantee of traffic or parking.
Be within walking distance of the center, or keep another drop-off point
Accommodation in Vallon allows you to reach certain shops and restaurants on foot. You have to check its exact position: the canoe departures are not all in the center, and the Pont d'Arc beach is another trip.
In Saint-Montan, you stay on the Rhône valley side. A car is used for shopping and outings to the gorges. This location may suit you if your week also includes Viviers, Bourg-Saint-Andéol and days at the estate. It adds to the road if you want to return to Vallon each evening.

Calculate each journey from the offer address to the actual arrival point. The accommodation sheets are then used to compare beds and services; the name of a sector does not set a duration of the journey.
Consolidate visits rather than round trips
For a canoe day, ask for the meeting time, starting point and shuttle return. The journey to Vallon does not give the total time of the activity. The canoe descent guide help prepare these questions.
For a day at Pont d'Arc, take a look parking lots and shuttles before leaving. Do not add a tour booked late in the morning if you do not yet know the transfer time.
The lookouts can be visited on the tourist route; choose your stops according to your itinerary. As for the river swimming, check their access and the conditions of the day rather than deducing their proximity from the name of a village.
When the lodge is also part of the holidays
