Gîte, campsite or hotel in South Ardèche: choose according to your stay

A room for a stopover, a mobile home with entertainment or accommodation where you can cook for a week: these reservations do not cover the same stay. Before comparing their prices, decide on the nights, the number of people and the meals you want to have there.

We offer lodgings in Saint-Montan. This format has its limits: it does not replace either the service of a hotel or the activities of a campsite.

A kitchen or services?

A gîte allows you to prepare meals and have a living room. This is useful with children whose schedules differ or for sharing errands with friends. You must also agree to cook, tidy up and organize outings.

The hotel is suitable if you want a room, breakfast or cleaning during the stay, depending on the services of the establishment. Together, compare the cost of rooms and meals, not just that of a night for two.

At the campsite, distinguish between a tent pitch and an equipped mobile home. Look at the entertainment, the space between accommodations and the evening rules. A swimming pool and a children's club are not present in all establishments.

Two groups, two ways to compare

The group that cooks together looking for a suitable kitchen, beds for each household, possible shopping and a table to meet up. Compare a rental in self-catering and a camping rental based on these needs, asking what the stay and the options include.

The group that wants meals served and daily cleaning must request these services in each quote. At the Mas, meals are prepared by the group or reserved separately from a professional; Daily housekeeping and served breakfast are not included.

For both cases, complete the same calculation: accommodation + obligatory services + chosen options + meals + travel + taxes remaining outside the estimate. Then note the deposit, balance and cancellation conditions actually offered. A refundable deposit remains separate from the cost of the stay.

Compare what will actually be paid

Format Expenses to add up To check
Gite Rental, options, cleaning and taxes Kitchen, beds, access to outside areas, length of stay
Camping Location or rental, options and taxes Accommodation facilities, entertainment and access to services
Hotel Rooms, breakfasts, meals and taxes Connecting rooms, services and parking
Rental on a platform Housing price, fees and options Housing identity, conditions and shared spaces

A platform can offer both a lodging and a hotel room. The reservation method alone does not provide information on comfort. Ask for details that the photo does not show: neighborhood, stairs, shade and use of the swimming pool.

At the Mas, what you rent

Our six lodgings each have their own kitchen, toilet and shower. The estate has exactly 25 beds. You prepare your meals; there is no breakfast served or daily housekeeping.

The swimming pool is shared in partial rental and reserved for the group in complete privatization. It opens from mid-May to September depending on the weather. Linen remains optional, at €15 per person per stay. None of the lodges are air-conditioned; Wi-Fi is available in certain areas only.

Starting from your program

If you plan to spend the week between villages and canoe, watch the journeys from the exact address. If the goal is to reunite with family, check where everyone can eat together and which households will share beds.

For a stay for two, our couples weekend guide addresses the setting and free time. To cook when returning from visits, the villages and their markets provide avenues for exits. And to check if a gîte at the Mas corresponds to your dates, send your request to Pascale.
