Three days in South Ardèche: river, village and Chauvet 2

Three days allow you to choose an outing on the river, a walk in a village and a visit to Chauvet 2. You don't have to put them in this order: reservations and weather can move a day.
When leaving Saint-Montan, keep the same cottage with swimming pool for returns. The swimming pool opens from mid-May to September depending on the weather, and remains shared for rental accommodation.
Three days to move depending on confirmations
| Day | What sets the agenda | Margin to keep | If the weather changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| River | Reservation from the rental company, or access to the Pont d'Arc for a variant without canoe | Route to the exact departure, briefing, shuttle and return | Confirm the postponement with the rental company; choose a covered tour only if access is safe |
| Village and races | Opening of a monument or market day, if retained | Walking, shopping and returning fresh produce to the gîte | Shorten the walk; keep the meal and some time at the estate |
| Chauvet 2 | Ticket and arrival time indicated | Route, parking and time throughout the site | Check the openness and safety of the road; keep the ticket as a fixed point if the visit remains possible |
Book the outing that matters most to you before adding a second slot. By strong heat, remove the exposed steps rather than populating the return.
A day dedicated to the river
If you retain the canoe, choose the route with the rental company according to the participants and the conditions. A short descent and crossing the gorges do not take the same duration. Our guide canoe formulas helps prepare the reservation.
The Pont d’Arc can be another outing, to see the arch or swim if conditions permit. Consult access and parking before leaving. Don’t assume that all canoe trips go under the arch.
The village and shopping for dinner
Saint-Montan is close to the Mas. Its catering by volunteers changes the view of the houses and the ramparts. A walk in the calades can take the morning, with breaks and the climb at your own pace.
If you prefer Balazuc or Vogüé, plan more travel. A market can also give the subject of the day and the products of the meal: our article on Ardèche flavors helps to choose the basket.

Chauvet 2 occupies half a day
The guided tour of the replica lasts approximately one hour. The site indicates approximately 3:30 to take advantage of the other spaces: so keep half a day, then add the road. Reserve the slot suitable for the group and re-read the ticket instructions. The Chauvet 2 practical guide gives the benchmarks.
After the visit, a new river swimming remains an option, not an obligation. The children may also want to go home. Our guide family outings allows you to prepare for another day without adding everything together.
A time at the estate
The Mas gîtes are rented in self-catering. A dinner on site and a morning without travel are also part of the three days. If you stay longer, spread out the visits rather than adding a new site to the program every day.
